Orlando attorney Gwen Cryer is the founder of the Bay Hill Area Law Firm. A former Assistant Public Defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit, Ms. Cryer has practiced extensively  in both Orlando and Osceola (

Ms. Cryer began her work at the Office of the Public Defender in a Misdemeanor division, transferred to a Traffic division, and was promoted to defending Felony cases in just over one year. While a Public Defender, Ms. Cryer handled well over a hundred cases at any given timeЧan incredible opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and knowledge. Ms. Cryer has had much success representing thousands accused of DUI, Driving While License Suspended, Grand Theft, Aggravated Battery, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Drugs, and much more. Ms. Cryer began her career as a private criminal defense attorney with a Possession of Cocaine case that was dismissed at her first court appearance--a Motion to Suppress that was granted by the court. Ms. Cryer has many other trial successes, and she would be happy to discuss her results with you during a free consultation.

Prior to her work as a Public Defender, Ms. Cryer was employed with the Family Law Center, LLC, in New York, NY. While there, Ms. Cryer assisted clients in divorce and child custody matters. Ms. Cryer is also a Certified Family Mediator, having had extensive training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (
www.acrnet.org.).

Ms. Cryer earned a Juris Doctor from the prestigious Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (
www.cardozo.yu.edu), New York, New YorkЧhome of the nationally recognized Innocence Project (www.innocenceproject.org). While there, Ms. Cryer studied the case histories of the wrongfully accused in the Innocence Project, and graduated with concentrations in Criminal Law & Procedure, and Family & Matrimonial Law.

Ms. Cryer received a B.A. in Sociology at Smith College (
www.smith.edu), Massachusetts, where she graduated with honors. Ms. Cryer also attended New College, the Honors College of Florida (www.ncf.edu).

Ms. Cryer is a member of the Orange County Bar Association (
www.orangecountybar.org.), the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (www.facdl.org.), the American Bar Association (www.abanet.org.), and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (www.cfacdl.org.). Ms. Cryer is also an active member of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce (www.wochamber.com).

As a Member in Good Standing of the Florida Bar, Ms. Cryer is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida(

As a member of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, Ms. Cryer is licensed to represent those accused of serious federal offenses (drug trafficking/manufacturing, computer crimes, kidnapping, weapons charges, child pornography, etc.), as well as those involved in civil federal litigation matters. Practice areas include criminal defense and family law, as well as other civil matters. Ms. Cryer represents those throughout Central Florida, including Orange County (Orlando & Winter Park), Osceola County (Kissimmee), Seminole County.
